It’s a quiet Sunday, and I have spent much of the day sleeping, writing and watching British documentaries on TV. There’s a really great one, “Queen Victoria’s Letters”, which gives some insight into her thoughts, based on the many diaries that she kept. The next time we’re in London I’d like to visit Kensington Palace, and her memorial to Prince Albert.

I still don’t have my car back yet. We hoped after giving the mechanic another $1,000 he would let us have the car, but no. I still can’t believe it cost us so much to have it fixed. Outrageous. Fortunately my husband only has to go into the office twice next week, so I can drive his car to work. Even so, it’s a hassle finding rides in the meantime. I really hate it.

I spent a good part of the day updating my social media accounts, as well as my new logo, which I’m quite happy with.

The colors on the pentacle-red, black and white-are significant. Red represents the Blood of the Witch (connecting all witches together). Black represents Shadow (hidden knowledge and occult wisdom). White represents Bone (ancestors of the past and ancient past). In the center is a raven, with my name across the back. Red, White and Black are also symbolic of the Goddess as Mother, Maiden and Crone, as well as the three phases of the Moon. This symbolism is all strongly linked to witchcraft.

Speaking of which, I have been inspired to use a different circle-casting method than what I have been used to. This one places Celtic deities at the four directions, along with specific objects. It also requires the use of a ritual blade and a silver chalice, neither of which were part of my previous practice. The structured practice I once followed has had some changes, as well as a new name, Veneficium in Umbris, or “Witchcraft in the Shadows”. All of my rituals and magical practices take place at night, or outside under the moon, so a name change was in order.

I’ve started writing the introduction to Enchanted Darkness, and putting together a chapter outline. As always, I self-publish my books, it is just a personal preference. I still have a novel in the works, but it is on the back burner for now.

Friday I had an appointment with my doctor to schedule a colonoscopy, as I’m over 50 and have never had one. I’d been putting it off, but my husband was insisting I have it done, so I finally gave in. I’m not having any issues health-wise, but it’s something that has to be done. Not really looking forward to it.

I’m very happy to see Halloween merchandise slowly creeping into the shops, and I had to bring this mug home with me.

I dread having to go back to work tomorrow, but we have a lot of things to pay for at the moment. It is so hard to do any writing during the week, because I still work a full-time job, plus I have a 1-hour commute. By the time I get home, eat dinner and do a little reading, I’m knackered for the night.
